Exhibere
At first glance, my work appears aphotic; dark; lurid if not downright scary and violent; sometimes bawdily erotic — indiscriminately lascivious; usually angry; often unnatural and weird.
Screaming, contorted faces; characters severing heads while laughing; scornful, brooding, pensive faces; hair, blood, teeth, frowns, snarls. There is hopefully depth beyond the apparently horrible spectacle.
The paintings speak of the difficulty of soul extricating itself from the prison of the body, the inherent challenges in undertaking such a feat, the purposeful interference of mind and ego, the fear and indulgence of pleasure and pain, and the joys of success.
They are entirely about Love.
