At first glance, my work appears aphotic; dark; lurid if not downright scary and violent; sometimes bawdily erotic -- indiscriminately lascivious; usually angry; often unnatural and weird.

Screaming, contorted faces; characters severing heads while laughing; oversexed men; scornful, brooding, pensive faces; hair, blood, teeth, frowns, erections, snarls.

Please sit with these pieces for a while. There is depth beyond the apparently horrible spectacle.

They speak of the challenges of soul extricating itself from the prison of the body, the inherent challenges in undertaking such a feat, the purposeful interference of mind and ego, the fear and indulgence of pleasure and pain, and the joys of success.

They are entirely about love.

My name is Alec. I paint.

Most recently my work has been focused on digital arts and illustration. However, the brushes are out again and a new series is in the works. So far I am pleased.
